For Law Enforcement
The H.E.R.O. Program was created by a team of Southern California law enforcement professionals with decades of experience in patrol, active shooter response, hostage negotiations, tactical reaction teams, investigations, and community policing. Through their years of experience, the founders recognized the need for research-based active shooter curriculum built on the foundations of sound tactical theory and law enforcement “best practices.” The H.E.R.O. Program is the result.
In response to the ever-increasing active shooter phenomenon, local law enforcement entities have instituted active shooter training sessions with their local schools. While this training is effective, it is often limited in scope, not intended for young children, and inconsistent from school to school. With rising crime rates and new threats to our domestic security, in some cases, law enforcement doesn’t have time to create and institute training for local schools. The H.E.R.O. Program was designed from the ground up to relieve law enforcement from the burden of active shooter education and free up more time for what cops do best – keep us safe from the bad guys!
The H.E.R.O. Program goes far beyond the traditional “lockdown” drill and teaches educators and their students how law enforcement will respond in the event of a school shooting or other violent event. Perhaps more importantly, H.E.R.O. School teaches students and educators how to interact with first responders in the event of a school shooting or other tragedy.
Our hope is that H.E.R.O. School will create future generations of “safe thinkers”, who are situationally aware, socially responsible, prepared and empowered to handle whatever challenges they face in the future.
